Well, the water may not have been clear, but the purpose of our trip to Brazil was. God had a specific task to perform and He used us to do it. God's ways truly aren't our ways. We can make plans with the best intentions and to the best of our abilities, but we must always remember to hold on to those plans with a loose fist so that the Holy Spirit can change them at any time. We thought would be traveling 36 hours up river from Manaus...instead He gave us a different river to head down.
We thought we would be doing the medical/dental thing, giving out clothes, and a little sports evangelism...instead He allowed us to make friends in ways we couldn't imagine.
We thought we were just going to be delivering food to a few houses....instead He planned ahead a week earlier and prepared a lady for our arrival by telling her, "I hear your cries for help and an American team will be here next week with food, clothing, and medicine." We didn't even know it at the time, we were just packing and planning...
We thought we were going to be done in 6 days...instead He planned for 8, which allowed us to spend a day with this pastor (the man on the left) and help people devistated by flooding earlier this year.
We thought we were going to help Brazilians...instead He helped us by opening our eyes to what He is doing and let us be a part of it. God is so good and my life is changed more every time He allows me to go to Brazil!

It never ceases to amaze me how we plan to BE the "blessing" when in truth we receive the blessing of joining Him in the work he is already doing! Greatful that God uses you, but we are always glad when you return home safely.
Sounds like an awesome trip, John! Glad you got to go yet another time. The Lord is good!
Thank you for sharing. Oh, and the post about the Cowboys was good, too! I knew you would have a fabulous time!
