Mother's Day, one week late
1. The gas dryer. AKA the white shelf in the garage.
When we moved in our house was equiped for a gas dryer. Ours is electric. Our realtor worked a little magic and we got to keep the gas dryer. Then after about a year, the heating element (or maybe something else) went out. It finally came time to try and fix it and sell it. Long story short--anyone want a free gas dryer? It still doesn't heat, but you can have it for the parts.
2. The dryer vent.
We have some crazy contraption in the garage. Poor design for a vent for the lint. It broke some time back. And our garage is COVERED with dryer lint. Daddy decided to route through the attic and blow it out someone besides the garage. Well, looks like someone else already had that idea. Why it wasn't working is beyond our comprehension. He and Pop cleaned out the existing pipes/tubes/vent and lint is no longer flying all over the garage.
3. LilE's big girl bed.
She received the big girl bedding for Christmas. All we needed was the paint the bed to girl it up really cute. With a couple extra painting hands on deck, we tackled that project. Humidity and lots of spindles does not make for an easy painting weekend. But it is done.
4. LilE's dresser.
I have been scoping out CraigsList looking for a used dresser to paint to match the big girl bed. No luck. Mimi and I planned to get up and hit the yard sales looking for something that would work. Late Friday night, Pop suggested the dresser that is already in her closet. Daddy and I told him all the reasons we didn't think it would work and he said he thought they were all fixable problems. He was right! Gotta love a smart and handy man! It was sanded and painted right along with the bed.
5. Hall bath makeover.
Mimi and I got the final touches for the hall bath redo. It's not bad as is, but I came across a steal of a find on a new shower curtain and we added a couple of extra touches to finish it off. But that is another post in itself as well.
What we didn't get to do:
I was really excited about going to pick strawberries on Friday after they arrived. I called the place to find out what time they closed and he told me they were pretty picked over AND it had rained about an inch earlier that morning. He said come on if we wanted, but it was really muddy. Bummer.
But it did stop raining long enough to get some pictures in.
