Daddy and I have not been with all of my family for Thanksgiving since 2003. My cousin and hubby live just north of us and we have been blessed to spend the last few years with them. And Nonnie did come out last year. This year we decided to do something a little different. Meet in the "middle".
Pop mentioned Nashville as being a good meeting place. We started doing a little research on places to stay when I realized it'samomthing has parents there. We called them up and they were willing to let us "house sit" for them. I cannot even begin to tell you how WONDERFUL it was to have a home to use for the weekend. It even came with toys for the 3 little ones.
Mimi, Pop, Nana, J&S, and their two little ones loaded up and drove in from Texas. Only 13 hours in the car!! Yikes. Like I said, we got the better end of the deal. Our family and G&G only had a 7 hour drive. We actually caravaned to Knoxville with itsamomthing and ate dinner at Abuelo's! Awesome!
It was great to relax with everyone while in Nashville.
made scary faces,
cooked,
ate,
played with felt people,
went rabbit hunting,
played house (with a pirate),
had sharing issues (not many though),
watched some football (and checked the fantasy game),
and read some books (about the rainforest).
The ride home was not so glamorous. No. Really. LilE puked something like 6 times!! Maybe she is car sick? The first time we actually made it out of the car and into a parking lot. Then to the bathroom. Poor high school girl at McDonalds. Well, poor girl until she gave me a dirty look for having to clean up my kids mess. It will come back to haunt you girl! While we were hanging out in McDonalds, I was airing out the bathroom and Daddy and LilE were waiting outside the door. I started to close the door and then LilE started crying. Why you ask? Because I shut her finger in the door!! And that is the point in time when my emotions took over and I started crying too. Bad. Day. And it never got much better. No bandaids in the car or the gas station, so we had to make our own.
She finally fell asleep after all. the. drama.
Eight hours later we were home. You guys want to do this again next year? Without the drama in the car?
