This past weekend was "Project Weekend" for us. We had some extra hands while Mimi and Pop were in town and we took advantage!
Project 1: The Hammock
In November of 2005 Daddy went to the Amazon and brought back a double Brazillian Hammock. These are TOTALLY different than our American hammocks, to say the least. The ends hang from high places and close together, where the Americans hang low and far apart. We don't have two trees to hang it from or an enclosed patio like some of our friends do with which to hang them. One day while stolling along in Home Depot we came across an American hammock stand on clearance. So we bought it knowing we would have to make some changes to the hammock to make it work. Little did we know how many changes we would have to make. This weekend Daddy and Pop finished the Americanizing of the Brazillian hammock and it is great! LilE loves lounging outside.
Project 2: Mimi's Blog
Mom is always up to something and I feel like I don't know what is going on in Texas. SHE decided she wanted to start a blog so she could keep up with us! We brainstormed for a day or so and finally got her up and running! Check out Sassy Side of Life and leave her a warm welcome!
Project 3: Curtains
For the past couple of years Daddy and I have been wanting to add some curtains to the living room to help "finish" it off. One fall we found some great table clothes on sale at Garden Ridge that matched our colors perfectly! All we had to do was put some sort of backing on them and hem them to the right height. Last August we finally got some muslin to back them and borrowed a friends sewing machine in October. This weekend we FINALLY got to work (well, Mimi did most of it) and stitched them together. We picked out some curtain rods and the boys hung them and I think they look great!

Project 4: The Bradford PearSunday evening the four of us were watching TV. I heard something strange in the front yard--like the crackling of fireworks. Mimi heard a thud. The boys didn't hear anything. I told Daddy to go check it out. The verdict--half of our tree landed on Mimi and Pop's rental car! Nothing we can do at 10:30 pm. The next morning Daddy and Pop head out to do lots of labor on Labor Day! It took HOURS to cut up what had fallen. I am so thankful Pop was here to help out!
Praise God the rental car was okay!

Boy, y'all were busy. Our grands were busy, too. I told them that sometime I want them to come for a visit and not do any work.
Can't wait to sit in the hammock. You think I'll be able to get back out?
I'm heading over to say HI to your mom.
The curtains look great. We have curtains up, now, too. In four rooms. And blinds up in our room.
Cute haircut. Wish I could've hugged your neck on Sunday.
