Seven Year Itch

Yes, Daddy and I have been married for seven years. But it's not the marriage kind of itch. More like the itch to go back to the dentist. We have been to see the dentist once since we have been married. Not a thing I am proud of, but it just hasn't been a priority.

Fast forward to Daddy's trips to the Amazon. One of the guys that went with Daddy happens to be a dentist and has been strongly encouraging us to come...for the past three years.

Tuesday we decided to take the plunge and actually make appointments for all three of us. They worked us all in today! Talk about speedy service!

Daddy went first. LilE watched a bit, but got bored. They have an awesome playroom, so we spent our time in there while Daddy had the sugar bugs scraped away. Then it was Mommy's turn. Daddy took over playroom duty. Daddy and I had the best hygienist! Super nice and super easy on the mouth!
Before Mommy was done, it was LilE's turn. She was a little apprehensive about the polishing! So she and Daddy headed back over to watch Mommy's cleaning. Then she was a champ. The worst part for her was the bright lights! Daddy even went to the car to get her sunglasses. Too bad I was still in the chair and missed the photo op.
She is holding on tight to her new Tigger toothbrush

The worst part for Daddy--he has to return next week to have 3 cavities filled.

The worst part for Mommy--those wisdom teeth have to go.

Any words of encouragement? Because I am still in total denial! I love my wisdom teeth and am scared to death of dry sockets!

Guess it's a good thing I heart Chick-fil-a milk shakes!

Having your wisdom teeth out isn't too bad! Just don't drink those Chick-fil-a milkshakes with a straw! Avoid straws and you may be able to dodge the dry sockets.

You still have your wisdom teeth? I thought having those out was, like, a right of passage during the high school days. I had one dry socket, but it healed up really quickly and only hurt badly for a day or so. Of course, I slept for a good 18 hours straight, so it might have been hurting then.

Blake and I had our wisdom teeth out on the same day in '04 - the last time I was at the dentist : )

If you are anything like your brother you will be out hanging with friends the next night! I was in pain for a few days but nothing too bad! I'm sure you will be fine!

Glad LilE did so good!

Glad the dentist went (relatively) well for you guys! I had my wisdom teeth out in 8th grade before I got braces, so I hardly remember. I do remember that they put the laughing gas on me and gave me an IV to knock me out. When they did that, the doctor and nurse started sounding like robots. Next thing I know, they are trying to "carry" me down the hall as I'm weaving back and forth. Then I dove into the van...with my legs still hanging out. Fun times! Make sure you at least try to "chew" the mac and cheese. :)

I got my wisdom teeth out 2-3 years ago and it wasn't that bad. Here's a tip...mine still hurt after the pain meds ran out and the doctor told me that I could just take 4 ibuprophen and it would work the same and it wouldn't hurt me. Just in case yous hurts too long. And they give you this fun squirty cleany thing to clean them with. Don't worry!

Ahhh....dry sockets....been there, done that! I was able to have all of my wisdom teeth pulled, instead of having to have them carved out! So, it was no big deal for me. Hope it's the same for you!!

I've had more than my fair share of dental problems, so I'll take care of you when you get them out. Just don't expect me to be too easy on you. :) It shouldn't be that bad.

Had mine out in college (yes, 22 years ago) and it was not bad AT ALL! The key for me...bags of frozen peas used as ice packs from the very beginning (at 20 minute intervals) throughout the first 48 hours. Don't worry, you'll do great!

So glad to know there is another family out there who puts the dentist off like we do. I'm afraid we'll be paying for it big time when we finally decide to go back! Having the wisdom teeth out isn't a big deal ... just a few days of inconvenience!

Man...we are catching up on the dentist too! M just went, J only went recently cause he broke a tooth and had to have root canal. I went cause we finally have dental ins. and I haven't been in about 8 years. After all the scraping and xrays I only came away with one cavity. I have to have that filled end of Sept. Fun times.

I'm going to the dentist myself next week. Hope they don't find anything to get me to come back again!
