The Day of Love

LAST YEAR we went all out for Valentine's day. This year I was planning a surprise 35th and a rainbow 5th birthday party and Valentine's got the short end of the stick. Shouldn't we practice showing each other love every day? That is my motto this year anyway.

I did get my girl a little something. I found THIS free printable online. IT IS PERFECT! I sing her this song all. the. time. And it matches her room. And as a real bonus, I already had the frame. FREE gift! She immediately went and put it out in her room. She loves it!

I also printed up THESE coupons for LilE. They are for an after school treat, an outing with Mommy, building a fort, eating dessert first, etc. She was excited about them. Since she can't read, we will have to see if they will really work. we may have to pull them out in a few years.

And since I was finding all kinds of free printables online, might as well print the ones for her school friends too. I picked THESE. LilE picked out which ones were for the boys and which ones were for the girls. Since they only fill out the "from" section of the cards, she decided (without any promting from me) to write the boys in blue and the girls in red. Smart girl!

JD and I had a little dinner date at home. I cooked a nice meal (roast, creamy potatoes, salad) that I knew LilE wouldn't eat. We put her to bed and enjoyed a nice meal...just the two of us. Doesn't that sound super romantic? Funny. We were super tired and ate dinner in our PJ's. But the quiet was nice. We need to do dates like this more often. Because, you know FREE is great!

I guess I heard the phrase/sing when Nana would sing it to us. "I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck".

I love that little song. My Grandpa used to sing it, so that makes it special to me. Sounds like it's special to other people, too.

It's very special to me, too. I sing it to the grandchildren a lot.
