Smurf Village

According to Every Day a Holiday by Silvana Clark, July is Parks and Recreation Month. And as we have been on a Letterboxing spree in the month of June, we continued on in the month of July.

We headed out near one of the local university to an old ROTC training area.

Monkey bars

Balance Beams

Looking deep into the woods for a box...see his instructions in hand?

This place is known as Smurf Village to the LB community. We had some friends scope it out for us earlier in the weekend. They gave us a heads up that there was LOTS of poison ivy. Therefore we dressed appropriately (and by that I mean really cool soccer socks)!

There were also lots of fallen trees in the area making for some interesting hiking and searching for boxes.

We found a ton of "smurfs" that day and look forward to heading back there one day to pick up the rest. Here are the stamps of the smurfs we found.

After spending a few hours in the "village" we headed to the university and had our picnic lunch. The day ended with LilE following directions to find her first LB on her own! Way to go!!

Looks like fun was had by all. Great family photo and memories. Is JD sporting a new hairdo?

Not a new 'do. Just a lady that doesnt' know how to follow instructions and cut it "high and tight". She will not be cutting his hair again--this was strike 2.
