New Camera

Sometime in elementary school my parents bought me my first camera. You know the one that is long and skinny and takes the funky looking film (110)? Somewhere along the way I upgraded to 35mm.

For my college graduation, I wanted a new camera. Not just a new point and shoot, but an SLR. Pop has some photography skills, so he found me a good one in 2000, the Canon EOS Rebel. It was fantastic! Easy to use, took great pics. Digital at that point in time was just starting to come out. Who needs digital when you have this nice SLR? I did. It's hard to play around and see what your camera can do when you have to wait to finish the roll before developing and then try and remember what you did to get that blurry picture. Daddy and I decided we needed to save up and get the Canon Digital Rebel. Yes, it was expensive, but all of our lenses and other accessories would fit the new digital body. We LOVE it!!

Recently I have found that lugging around the SLR has not been ideal. Therefore, for Valentine's Day Daddy and I got the Canon Powershot SD1100. It has been alright. Nothing super spectacular, but I have only used the SLR since 2000.

What I like about my SLR:
-no delay when taking a picture
-great quality pictures
-can change MANY settings to get the look I want
-regular lens
-telephoto lens
-can take multiple shots in a row
-quick zoom in a out
-lighting (can add a flash or take it away)

What I like about my Point & Shoot:
-small and portable
-don't have to use the view finder
-LilE can "play" with it (another post to come on her work)
-no accessories to haul around
-video

Yeah, when we met up at Christmas, I was wanting me one of your cameras after seeing yours! I'm just not impressed with what we've got now, but I'm not anywhere near a good picture taker! :)
