Please Pass the Pound Cake

This week at Today's Housewife's is having a giveaway for sharing recipes!!

We are taking a step back to look at what foods bring us that oh so good feeling from home . One recipe that reminds me of family is my Grandma's Pound Cake. I wonder if part of my sweet tooth comes from her. Any time we were together there was candy and dessert everywhere you would turn. I like this one because it can be dressed up many a different way--fruit, cool whip, ice cream, honey, you name it! It's good any way you make it. And it is super easy!

Grandma's Pound Cake

1 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
6 eggs
2 cups flour
1 tsp vanilla

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, flour and vanilla. Pour mixture into a well-greased and floured pan (tube or Bundt). Bake at 350° for 1 ½ hours.

Man, that sounds really great and easy to make. I love pound cake. :)
Oh, we're home! Wahoo!! I plan to call you when we've got less company (Monday probably). I will add pictures to the blog soon!

One of my favorites that Violet handed down early in our marriage. The little pink piece of paper is so old and faded I can hardly read the ingredients, but it so reminds me of her. Also, try heating a slice in the microwave and spreading it with butter! My favorite "topping".
