The First Days of Summer

Wow...the summer is off to a crazy start for sure! It didn't help my blogging to have the computer out, but that is done for now. Let's look at a few highlights from May and June:

  • The month started with us having three kids for a weekend. Not only did we have three kids, but the oldest was 3 and the youngest 22 months! We had some friends who headed out for a marriage conference and we kept the youngest two of their six kids! LilE learned how to share a bit more over the weekend. We started the weekend with some pizza, headed to the zoo with a picnic lunch, a trip to Bruster's, and made it to church on time Sunday morning!

  • The Fort: Yes, my house was a fort...doors closed, blinds closed, lights off, fans on, a/c running non-stop, and temps still soaring in the 80s (inside the house)! Praise God for a front that came through and cooled it all off (well, at least to the 90s outside!).

  • One week (can't remember exactly when) we had a play date with IAMT. Man, I love that girl! It was so great to spend some time with her after the debut of theEdge. The girls had a blast being together again. And I enjoyed me some loving on a sweet baby boy! It has been super hot around here, obviously, and M busted out the pool and the girls just played and played.

  • Our neighborhood pooled opened two weekends ago. Daddy is now serving on the Homeowners Association Board (and since that weekend has now become the VP--special), and therefore had to be there for the grand opening extravaganza! LilE and I headed down the street for the festivities. For the past several weeks, every time we drive out of the neighborhood, she says, "look Mommy, sim-pool". I knew after that, if we went I would be in the water. Daddy was manning the grill, so Mommy got wet. Last summer the water was chilling for my Texas blood until mid-July. Oh, but not that weekend! The water felt wonderful in the 100 sun! I can see many days in the future hanging out in the water. We need to head to Target and get some pool floaties so we can have some more F-U-N!

  • I have had a few more book parties this month. It has been going great so far. BUT, I don't have any more parties scheduled. If you would like to host one and get DOUBLE the free books in July or August, let me know and we can schedule!

  • IAMT came over one day to play for a bit and Lil E got to hold her some sweet little boy!

  • Sticker fun: LilE got this blue crayola dog you can actually color on and stick stickers on for Christmas from some cousins. We have pulled it out from time to time, but just recently she has really gotten into stickers. So once again, out comes the dog and she loaded him up!

I thought about you on that weekend, but failed to ask how it went. Sounds like a good weekend. The newest arrival looks really sweet. Showed a pic of E to Mrs. Marriott the other day and she commented on how much hair she had.....Susan's baby is now 22 months and Mrs. M gets to see her often.

Her hair is so long! She's just adorable! Someone needs to hand me a baby to play with, no one I know has one.

I did talk to W on the phone this morning (Mom's babysitting while J&S are on mission trip); I didn't understand anything he said, Mom had to translate for me!

I mean no one I know here has one. Obviously I know plenty of people with babies and toddlers.

You guys sound like us. I felt like we lived in a cave a couple of weeks ago ... blinds closed, doors shut, no lights! Glad we got a break last week!
