Spring Break

Last week was our county's spring break. Therefore there were no activites at church during the week. (Daddy did still have to work though.) Since Lil E has been intested in the potty, we (by 'we' I mean I decided) decided to go ahead and try to get my little girl in big girl p*nties. The stuff I read, which worked for several friends of mine, said to go cold turkey--day and night! So we went all out, no holding back! Monday was an okay day all in all. Daddy kept her that night for me to go to Bible study. Daddy decided to do the night time plan--"if we are going to do it, let's really do it!" Whatever works. When I got home Daddy tells me he wants to show me what he did so she could get up and go if she needed to. In my mind I am wondering what kind of contraption he has come up with so she can notify us she needs to get up and out of her crib. This is what I find:

I just looked at her and cried! My baby was no longer in a crib, but a big girl bed she can get in and out of by herself (with the help of Dora). He had placed pillows on the floor in case she fell out. Oh my. I was not ready to see her like that. But maybe that was the best thing for me...quick and no thinking about how she is not a baby anymore. She stayed in bed while she played before falling asleep. We went to bed. At 3:30am I woke up when I heard her door open. Yep, she was wet! Got her and the bed changed and back to bed we all went. No more getting out of the bed that night. Tuesday was not as good as Monday. Lots of accidents. Tuesday night after going to bed, I couldn't sleep. I kept hearing noises and would look to see if her door was open. It never was. Then at some point in the night, I wake up to find a 2 year old moving around in the bed! I ask Daddy what she is doing there and he doesn't know! He was asleep and she must have come in and he just picked her up and put her in bed with us. Back to bed she went! I still wasn't sleeping soundly, but she stayed in the bed. Wednesday night Daddy was out late due to a fire set behind the soccer fields. He saved a few lives, directed a 550 back into the woods, and was solved the crime by putting the arson behind bars. Or maybe not. So he came home to basically put her in bed. She was ready to play with her Daddy!! In and out. In and out. In and out of the bed. Daddy lays down with her; Mommy lays down with her. And in and out of the bed, AGAIN. Finally, at 11:30pm, I asked Lil E if she wanted Mommy to fix her bed. She nodded her head and she is now sleeping soundly in the crib again. Mommy is also sleeping through the night again!
The rest of the week was about the same, no better and no worse. We have made some progress and even ventured out a couple of times over last weekend and this week in BGP with no accidents. Slowly but surely! We will see what the future holds...

I don't know if this would work for you guys, but #1 took naps in his big bed for a while before sleeping there at night. But he had a crib & big boy bed in his room so we didn't have to do any changes in between. Very proud of your big girl!

I am jealous of the BGP. Hannah had 1 great day in a pull-up going potty. Now, everytime I go to put a pull-up on her, she says, "No, Mommy, I need a diaper!" UGH!
Oh how I can relate to the in and out, in and out of the bed. I am glad we have that solved, but it took a while, and we still have the occasional night wandering into our bed. One night, I just put her in the pack n' play because I was tired of dealing with it.
What happened to our babies?

Sweet Little E! She'll get it when she's ready. I'm very impressed that she is making such great progress at such a young age. I guess the potty training and big girl bed was just too much all at once.

Also, you should email Annie the "book." Hannah is a little older and may be ready for the Potty Boot Camp.

Oh how I don't look forward to the potty training days!! But, when I do, I know there are many of you girls who have been through it and will have great advice:) Oh, and glad to hear mommy is sleeping through the night again!

HAHA!!! I guess when " they say you forget it all " they are right! I bawled when I saw W sleeping in his BBB for the first time--he looked so little in it--and then sometime in the wee hours of the morning there was this small person staring at me and breathing heavy...picture FREDDY CROUGAR..or that was how I felt before I opened my eyes to find my sweet boy standing there saying " Hello mommy" Glad that is over--Praying for all you potty boot camp mommies! YOU are all doing GREAT! Bribery always works!!! HAHAHAHAHA

I am totally not ready for R to be in a big boy bed. I know he would not stay in there unless he is caged up! And the potty training thing is the last thing on my mind. Especially since he is a BOY! :O

I might start think about that when he's two and a half.

Yep, I echo all the previous statements... it was so hard to see S in a big boy bed the first time.. even though my MIL had already put him in there a few times before when he had spent the night. I just wasn't ready either! It's still hard to believe and he's been sleeping in it for almost 2 months now! However... we haven't even tackled the potty training thing yet... I pretty much dread that! Keep up the great work!

Exactly when do you think about putting them in a big bed? I know I am not ready for that. As long as she is in the crib, I can think of her as my baby. Keep positive about the potty training. My neice had a hard time with it and one day she started going to the potty and never stopped.
