Sick of Being Sick!

What is happening with Little E? It has been a LONG week and then some! Friday morning after arriving in WF, Little E woke up cranky and was running a fever by lunch. Saturday, after running the fever for 24 hours, we took her to an Urgent Care Center. The doc said she had a slightly red ear and gave us an antibiotic and sent us on our way. The fever began to rise and after 3 days on an antibiotic she seemed to be worse. Monday morning we called up a pediatrician (also a family friend) and were worked in that afternoon. He said she ruptured her ear drum and changed her antibiotic. We gave that new drug a few days and she was still running fever. After talking to our pediatrician on Wednesday, he said to give it 3-4 days before we come back in. We called on our way back to get worked in here on Friday. After he saw her, she now has an infection in the other ear and obviously the strong antibiotics she is on aren't working. He recommends being aggressive and giving 3 days of injectable antibiotic (we later find out that the amount is too large to be given in one shot--so two shots x 3 day= 6 shots! Ouch!) Within 12 hours after the first dose (probably that and Motrin, the wonder drug) she was almost back to herself. Unfortunately, it wasn't to last for long! Saturday was an okay day, but not as good as Friday. Sunday we went to church (had been fever free for 48 hours) and when I picked her up she was running a fever again. We went to the doc for our 3rd injection and he says she now has something viral (the antibiotics killed everything bacterial). Monday and Tuesday have been rough. We are back to the way things were in WF--sleeping lots during the day and just lying around when we are awake. Ahh!! Hopefully tomorrow will be better...

Wow! I hope she is feeling better soon! How sad that she had to have two shots a day!

So sorry!! I hate it when our little ones are sick, cause you just feel so helpless and can't do much about it! I hope she gets better very quickly!

I PROMISE the ears thing goes away as she will approach 3 I promise it gets better as all that grows----I am proof-----W was constantly in for his ears and crazy colds/virus things and I am certain that as he rounded the corner to 3 it all changed..NOW I can;t be sure that E will be safe from the 3 year old TERRORS but at least she will not be as sick! Praying for you! Love you

Poor Little E. I hope she'll feel better soon. It's no fun to be sick and I'm sure you both have cabin fever in a bad way by now. Hopefully all of those germies will be gone soon and T$ will get to play with her best bud.

As I read this it brings back memories when I was little( a 100 years ago!) I had ear problems and went through shots daily sometimes for 5 days straight monthly. I hope that E is feeling better and you all will be back on a regular schedule. Praying for you. /Sheree

Sometimes I think our kids are leading parallel lives as much as they both tend to suffer from all of this coughing/wheezing/ear infection stuff! It's good to know someone else shares the joys of the breathing machine with us! :)
