Peer Pressure

I gave in...a while back I fell into the world of MySpace and Facebook. I just wanted to see what it was like. Also, I am very lacking in the cool department, so I took the plunge to try and fit in. :) I am only involved to find old friends and see what is going on in their lives. One day, I received a message via Facebook from a good college friend! How super exciting! Here's the history...

I was at Hardin-Simmons my first two years of college. I LOVED IT! That is where I first learned what it was like to be a Christian who is on fire for the Lord. The majority of my "college" friends graduated from HSU. Sometime during my sophomore year I decided to go to nursing school. Although Abilene did have a nursing school, I felt God calling me to a different school. Therefore, I packed up my dorm room and headed south to Mary Hardin-Baylor. (I seriously think that has been one of the, if not the, hardest life decisions I have ever made.) I left my comfort zone. Let me tell you, being a transfer student is not a glamorous thing! Everyone has "their friends" and they don't want you to mess that up. Praise God for a girl who moved in next door to me! She was also transferring in as a junior! We quickly bonded and became confidants. If Kim hadn't been around, I probably would have transferred back to HSU and been WAY out of the will of God!

Back to the point...Kim and I reconnected through Facebook! We have been talking off and on. A couple of weekends ago she was driving through our city on the way to visit a friend down the road! We had her over for dinner and then headed downtown to enjoy some great ice cream at Spill the Beans. The evening was short, but such a blessing to be able to catch up with a dear friend.

Hey, very cool. I always enjoy catching up with people from the "past." Well, most people at least! :) I'm glad you went to HSU and were my neighbor our freshman year!!

I am SO glad you lived next door too! Oh the memories! Even slumber parties ;) The girls (and a boy or two) that I know from HSU are the greatest! You are my heart friends. I love that we have worked hard to maintain those bonds even though we are miles and miles and miles apart.

You never know what happens at one of those Baptist colleges!!! :) So many fun memories. Some days I wish I were back there instead of working with nerdy middle schoolers!
