*Note: I have tried to correct the spacing several times and blogger won't let me. Sorry the pics are all running together!*
Over the last several months (it has taken 'us' a while) we have done several projects in the kitchen. We tiled the floor (Daddy tiled, I watched), including the breakfast area, updated the color on our kitchen chairs, (country blue to black), painted the light fixture (brass to textured brown/black), painted the wall (tan to roasted pepper--a continuation into the breakfast area), and put in under the counter lights. Really, I didn't do too much. A little painting here and there. Daddy did most of the work...at least the stuff that really counts!
Before (you can kinda see the carpet; do you like my china?)
After
I am in need of some help now. When the wall was tan, the blinds blended into the wall. Now that they stand out against the roasted pepper wall, Daddy and I both think we are in need of a window treatment. Any ideas?

It looks great! More contemporary and less french country, I guess.
I would just do a nice valance for the window. That way you would have a bit of something to cover up the top of the blinds, but you could still open/raise them without having to deal with full length curtains.
Smart homeowners! When home owners update the kitchen and bathrooms they are wise...you will see a return on your money here when you get ready to move. And for now you get to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Great job! I wish more homeowners were willing to make necessary updates.
Looking good......how many coats of the roasted pepper did it take this time? I agree with Gena that a simple valance over the window to soften the blinds would be nice. If you have someone who can help you sew...a coordinating fabric to work with living room would be nice. Consider using knobs instead of curtain rod to hang the valance. Everything really looks nice...good job!!
I love the new color and new lighting fixtures! I am in house envy! HA!
sounds like an ANNE question to me
The improvements look great...I've seen them up close and personal. Good job guys! Now, when are you available to come to our house?
I really like the treatments Gini has in her dining room and den. Take a look at them sometime. She made them. I think they would be pretty.
Or a set of elegant roman shades would be lovely!
Everything looks great. I can't wait to see it in person. I think you should start hiring J out. We could use some work done and would pay him well.
Even Ben liked the new updated kitchen! I think it looks great. I love the red. We have a brass fixture too and I keep telling him that I saw on Trading Spaces or something that they painted it, but I think he doesn't believe me or doesn't want to do it yet. Hopefully someday we'll get it to be a better color! I like yours!
Looks Great!!! I'm with Tobie, if J ever feels the urge to do some more work, we could use him!! We have some cracked tile that needs to be replaced:)
As for a window treatment, do whatever style fits YOU. I would suggest going with either black fabric, or even better a print which incorporates black, cream, and perheps even the roasted pepper color. Adding wall accents along both sides (cream colored sconces, wall art: black frames with wide cream borders...) will also lesson the contrast between the blind and the wall. Kudos to all of the hard work!!!
