Birthday: Week Two

Tuesday night we had a family dinner to celebrate my birthday. It may not be real Tex-Mex, it's as close as we get out here. Don Pablo's is where we chose to dine. It was nice to sit down as a family and have someone serve us!

We came home and I made a cake. It wasn't Aunt Shebby's Cake, but it was pretty good. We also didn't have the right number of candles. Dang, I'm old! So Daddy got creative!

(This is the best of the pics we took...not a photogenic night!)

Friday night Daddy and I planned to go out for a birthday date night. We had some friends who said they could watch Little E so we could go out and celebrate. We dropped her off and then left. Daddy had not told me the plans that I told him he had to make...it was a date night, the least he could do is pick a place! Off we headed to some new place. He had "done his homework," so he said. He wouldn't tell me where, therefore I asked what type of food I needed to be looking forward to. "This place pretty much only serves lasagna. It is their specialty." Okay. Vacationing friends call while we are driving and ask us to stop in and check on their automatic fish feeder. They didn't want to bother the elderly neighbors with it. Okay. Whatever. We are good like that. We stopped for gas. We only had half a tank. Usually Daddy gets gas when there are only fumes left. I ask if this new place is in Atlanta! Ha! Good, it is not, but he doesn't know how long it will take to get there. Then we get on the interstate. Driving, driving. Oh yeah, check on humongous goldfish at Vacationing friend's house. Good grief! While we are passing one, "Let's stop at CVS and get Little E's cough syrup so we don't have to get it later. Not sure how late we will be out." Okay. It is now an hour after we dropped Little E off. And we still are not even really on the way to this new restaurant that specializes in lasagna. I am a little ticked. I wanted a nice date night and the little stuff is taking time away from quality time with my beloved. We pull into the Vacationer's home and IAMT and JMATB's cars are in the driveway. I am confused, then it hits me. SURPRISE! You are the big 3-0! At least I knew before I entered the house. (I had a really bad experience with surprises when I was in elementary school....so I despise them!) But this one was different. I was surrounded by dear friends (mentioned above and then some other new friends) who truly love me--for the good and the bad. And my husband was the ringleader. He did it because he loves me and wanted to make this milestone extra special. Thanks, my love! We had dinner--lasagna, salad, and bread sticks--this restaurants specialty, banana pudding (that was Daddy's selfish part of the party), and of course, birthday cake (now I have two at home). The camera was a little out of wack, so the pictures are limited.
