At the front end of our trip to the homeland, we stopped by (or way out of the way) San Antonio for the SBC. Or as a friend called it, "The Southern Baptist Convention Convention." Daddy and I have never been before, so it was a new experience for both of us. Lots of meeting going on. We were specifically headed to the convention to sing with the choir. It was fun since neither of us have been in a choir since high school! We sang with TFBC on Tuesday morning. We had to be at a sound check at 6 AM! I have not seen that early in a long time! (Praise God my baby likes to sleep late!) We also sang with a combined choir on Wednesday evening.
(To watch the choirs sing, oh my, this might be complicated: click here. On the left side you will see a pic of Dr. Page that says 'View 2007 Annual Meeting Video Archives'. Click his face. It will bring up the video program and it says 'no programming scheduled' To the left of the black screen there is a list of words. Click 'archived programs'. Now you should see a list of days and time of day. Click which day you would like to watch. Now you must choose from a list below the screen. Concert of praise or congregational worship are good indicators for music selections. Hope that helps. I can't just put a link in there--that would be too easy! But Travis Cottrell--AMAZING! So don't miss that man!)
Wednesday morning we were able to watch a live greeting from President Bush.
How great is our God!?! Each of the men that brought a message from the Word all were focused pretty much on the same thing: Revival throughout the convention. There were some pretty startling statistics related to the number of baptisms (which come after salvation--not to be saved). I need to get my relationship with Christ on the right track and be obedient to His word and spread the WONDERFUL news that Christ died for me so I can have a relationship with Him now and forever!
Overall, I thought the convention went well. We would run into people who remembered the last time the convention was held in SA and they all wanted to make sure we were getting along this time. PTL we were!!We also ran into some friends while we were there. My sister/friend and her husband were there. I had lunch with her at the Minister's Wives Luncheon (lots of great free stuff given out with the yummy lunch). Daddy and I had dinner with her and her husband that night. It was great to spend some time with them. We also ran into MY children's minister. What a blessing it was to catch up with them.
And finally, Daddy and I had a date while we were there. We headed to the Rainforest Cafe. What a fun place! We felt like we were actually in the rain forest--trees overhead, animals moving and making sounds, thunderstorms rolling in. It was amazing! And the food was good!
