Today was a day our church went out in groups into the community to do servant evangelism. What is servant evangelism? It is an act of kindness to show others a glimpse of the love Christ has shown to us. A group from my SS class went out into the heart of Greer and did some spring yard work for some elderly who receive food from Meals on Wheels. Our group was only able to be out for about 4 hours. In that four hours, we (and I saw that lightly--Little E was 'helping' me) were able to do 5 lawns! One couple owns a lawn service and brought all kinds of great equipment to get the job done quickly. Another guy had a riding mower and some other equipment. So needless to say, we were definitely prepared. Our job including, mowing, edging, pruning, raking, etc. BW even had his big ol' truck to mulch the leaves after we picked them up! What a blessing to us as well as the home owners.
Here is a quick story about one woman:
Little E was with me and it was a little chilly early in the morning. I had her bundled up. At the second home, the woman came out and told us we could bring her inside. So the other ladies, Little E, and I went inside to visit. She is a 91 year old woman who lives with her dog, Puddin'. She has family in the area, but I guess they are not good about visiting her on a regular basis. She was so grateful we were with her. She wanted us to stay while the boys went on to the next homes. After talking with her, I would say she is a believer. She watches the preachin' on TV. She doesn't get out of the house much. And she is just all alone. She said that multiple times. I felt so bad for her.
Little E and I went to meet Daddy for lunch. He was painting at Greer Community Ministries. One of the employees was eating lunch with us. I asked her what her role at GCM was. She said she is the Senior Dining Coordinator. She has a couple of vans that go out every day of the week to pick up seniors and bring them back to GCM for the morning. They have entertainment, crafts, games, lunch, and so on for the seniors in the area. I was telling her about this woman we met with earlier and she said she the program would be perfect for her!
How great is our God to take care of little things like this! All praise to him!

Serving others is one of the best feelings. You may never know how God used you and Emma to touch this ladies life. What a great project for your SS class!
